Brandon Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja in the works for UFC 269 on December 11th
By - Loganbaker2147
Would this be considered a trilogy? Their first fight was on TUF and is considered an exhibition so I guess technically right? Idk I’ll just axe j
I think so based on Maynard/Diaz, it had a 3 on the poster despite one being TUF
Finding stuff online about those fights is confusing af. I know tapology used to put their second fight as 1 and the third as two.
That's legit though. Their tough bout was an exhibition or amateur. So it was their 2nd pro fight
Some would say the triliogist B. What else ya got?
Talmbout Alejandro Pantomime vs. Brendan Moron b? Beast of a fight, never saw it
Pantoja by decision unless Moreno wins.
Best brains for these arts, B.
I'd argue it'll be a draw unless one of them wins. Who knows though.
>Idk I’ll just axe j
Hahaha love it bubba. Watery dune hair
Genuinely interested if Pantoja just has Moreno's number, cause he's made easy work of him twice. Moreno is considerably better nowadays so I'm thinking we get a fucking competitive war with a healthy dose of scrambling
Oh shiiiiiii panties is a beast
Edit: pantoja* fucking autocorrect
No, no, you're onto something. Let's call him Panties.
Can you imagine Bruce yelling "Alexandre PANTIESSSSSSSSSS PANTOOOOOJAAAA"
New mythical fighter: Panties. Right next to Volkswagen.
Figgy vs Askarov? Hopefully 🤞🏽
Chance of both of them making weight would be low I would imagine. Not to mention that even tho Figgy made weight last time, he clearly needs to move to Bantam
hasnt he only missed weight in the first joey fight?
He'd be way too small at bantamweight.
He the size of Petr Yan
Nah he wouldn’t need to cut as much. Imagine figgy +5-10ish actual pounds. He would be fine. Don’t see him winning a title there but he would still be fun to watch.
Anyone else think Figgy started enjoying the spoils of being champ and that’s why he’s struggling to make weight? When he won the title his weight cuts got increasingly worse each fight (at least by appearance)
Edit- Kind person reminded my dumbass he literally missed weight before his title run
He missed weight against Benavidez in February 2020. That was supposed to be for the vacated title but Fig won so the rematch was made (fig made weight the second time)
Ahh fuck, forgot about that. Dude needs to move up regardless. Either that or go on that Aldo Diet.
He's getting older
Askarov vs Pantoja for the title seems like his best path
I haven't heard anything about Askarov being ready to fight anytime soon. Whatever injury he sustained seems pretty severe.
I wonder if this is gonna be another 3 title ppv card, I hope Oliveira vs Poirier is on this one as well.
I hope so, good way to close off the year. Can open 2022 with Ngannou vs Gane too
I’d imagine both nunes and Moreno aren’t reliable draws and usually co-main events unless ufc has literally not other option
Moreno is a lot bigger now so maybe they’ll want to test his buying power, but overall it’s still a pretty low profile fight so I doubt it
Yeah pantoja is not a big name at all. If it was Moreno vs Askarov then we maybe would be talking about a big draw fight
Moreno blew up after capturing the belt. All Mexicans seemed to know who he is.
Yeah, but if boxing is anything to go buy there aren't a lot of PPV buys in Mexico
Lol we live in USA too.
If Oliverira vs Poirier lands on that card it's going to be easily card of the year. Would be an absolute banger.
267 for sure
Islam, Chimaev, Yan, Blachovicz, Ankalaev
Still in awe we're getting that card for free.
Every card is free homie
We got one!
Nice catch. This fuckers going down.
We got you, fucker!
I agree. Also got volkov fighting tybura, tai tuivasa vs Harris and gamzatov on prelims
3 title cards are brutal, I hate them
Said no one ever
I know a lot of people who hate them, 3 5rds fights in Row is brutal if they are boring fights.
Name the last time you saw 3 boring title fights in a row. I'll wait.
Especially if you’re in the UK I always fall asleep.
Wallid Ismail in SHAMBLES
where ish tri-oloj
I don't wanna make a party, I wanna make a trilogy. I wanna make a trilogy two times!
Figgy in shambles?
*Askarov in shambles?
He should not have been getting a title shot off missing weight whether he was injured or not. You're ineligible to win a belt when you miss weight, why would you be considered eligible to fight for a belt off a fight where you miss weight?
He'd problably would be if had to cut to 125 again. Seriously he needs to move up and since he's not getting a title shot, this is the right time.
I think he could get a rematch if Moreno loses
Wallid Ismail in Shambles\*
If I'm not mistaken, in a brazilian interview, Figueiredo said that Moreno is a bad person 'cause he didn't take the rematch straight away as he did.
Well that’s just dumb
It’s trash type to generate buzz. The world we live in
> trash type
wait is that the term for trash talking online?
No must have typoed and autocorrected lol
Fig can't make weight anymore, his last couple weigh ins are shady as fuck
This has got to be the first title fight where the champ is 0-2 against the challenger...
Moreno should decline the fight and be like he's got my number no point in the trilogy
Win, lose, or draw. I can’t wait to see which legos Brandon picks up the week after.
Same. love moreno as champ. But hopefully I'ma cash a + money ticket on alex
Pantoja looked great against Royval, but he did seem like he was slowing down a bit in the 2nd. Gotta wonder if Brandon’s team will try to drag this fight into the later rounds
They better make this the main event over Nunes
Third time’s the charm?
I dig it. Let's go Moreno!
I love the fight and definitely want to see it as soon as possible but that might not be the right play for the UFC. I doubt that they make 269 a three title fight card and if that is the case then the card will have either Nunes or a FLW main event. That's definitely not gonna draw a lot.
Cuz fuck Askarov I guess lol
He's injured I believe.
And miss weight recently doesn’t help his cause.
It's next to impossible to make a bad FLW title fight right now, but honestly, it's stupid the UFC isn't just making Fig-Moreno III. There's no logical explanation other than trying to keep Fig cost effective/trying to teach him a lesson after he seemed to try to look for a money fight at 135.
The promotion is so goddamn cheap right now it's ridiculous. Making title fights based on salary (*cough* Oliveira-Chandler *cough*) and cutting good fighters while keeping Sam fucking Alvey on the roster.

I'm a huge Figgy fan but I don't think that an immediate rematch makes the most sense or is the best play for Figgy. The second fight wasn't necessarily competitive and I sometimes dislike when divisions are held up with trilogy's.
There are other fights for both guys that make sense like Pantoja and Askarov for Moreno Garbrandt or Kara France for Figgy.
I feel that some time off for Figgy is best. Hopefully he can fix some issues and make his weight cut a little easier. Going into an immediate rematch with Moreno might mess with his head/confidence because he got decisively beaten and tapped last time they fought. Getting another win in the meantime will only do him good.

Was that fight really made because of their salary though? It seemed like it was just right time right place type of fight. But yeah It's bullshit that good fighters are getting realised/not resigned.
Agree. It might also help to develop the division, if the two most well known guys not only fight each other.
Pantejo and the next opponent of Figgy have the chance now to become bigger names.
