inhumanrampager

WAIT wait wait. Hold up. The tweet links to Ringside News? Nah, this is bogus. Pack it up guys. Edit: a word

MakeYourself85

And RN says Johnston was interviewed by Vice, but that was in 2020.

raddaya

This _tweet_ is also from 2020. So...blame /u/Minnale101 lol

amu_munchauzen

about as real as the HOF itself

Shark1986

Wasn't he someone who said he didn't want to be in there? Not in a anti-HOF way, but in a "I don't like being the center of attention" sort of way.

JustATributeCC

IIRC, he gets crippling stage fright and hates public speaking and performances and such.

_zen_aku

In CVV's interview, he also said he was fed up with the backstage politics and there were certain people who he would be glad to never see again or pretend to like if he was inducted in HoF

Roller95

Fully agreed

digittydog_socko

I also think it’s bizarre that I’m not in the hall of fame

inhumanrampager

I think it's more bizarre that I'm the authority.

IdkMyNameTho123

So it’s your fault he’s not in the hall of fame?

inhumanrampager

No, it's OUR fault, comrade.

vesperitis

WE FUCKED UP! WE FUCKED UP!

TheGeeMan360

"Well you know, I don't think they have what it takes."

digittydog_socko

I’m lying in bed with your wife

Tronvillain

And he's right. Music is such a massive part to a wrestler's presentation, and he's directly responsible for some of the most iconic entrances of all time. It doesn't matter that he's a douche. He absolutely deserves to be in the HOF.

Brooklyn2LA

He likes shitting on other people and their work in order to praise himself.

MoneyMo88

He did an interview on Sean Mooney’s podcast a few years ago where he said he wasn’t a fan of wrestling, and he came off as very dismissive of pro wrestling in general.

ARadioAndAWindow

He's been fairly high on himself the last few years. Every couple of months a story like this turns up where he's just flabbergasted that AEW didn't roll out the red carpet for him, that he isn't in the HoF, etc. He's clearly just fishing for some work and attention at this point. Obviously he's talented, and responsible for some legendary tracks, but he's coming off like a desperate date at this point.

Tronvillain

He also goes out of his way to shit on other composers in the industry like Mikey Rukus and CFO$. He's frequently criticized their work, calling it "mediocre" and "forgettable". It's a real shame, because his name carries a lot of respect in the industry, but instead of using it to support and offer guidance for such an exclusive group, he lowers everyone else to raise himself up.

Sempais_nutrients

rukus has more range then jim

sunnylikesmusic

I’m not familiar with Mikey Rukus but the themes CFO$ did for Nakamura, Balor, and Kevin Owens stand side by side with Jim’s greatest works.

inhumanrampager

Rukus does the AEW themes.

Minnale101

None what u described makes him a douche If donald trump is in hof. So should he

ARadioAndAWindow

Whether he should be or not, he's coming off pretty douchey in general about everything these days.

DCGMoo

Having self respect and self worth is awesome. Needing to bash everyone else who ever did the same job as you, as well as every company that doesn't hire or glorify you, in order to feel that self worth is another thing. Guy absolutely deserves to be in the HOF. But that doesn't mean he needs to shit on others because he hasn't been yet.

ARadioAndAWindow

Okay.

twelve98

How many other backstage/ not appearing on camera people are in the HOF? Not counting warrior award winners

squirreldstar

He's not wrong, but that's something you let other people say about you.

bigdonabzy

If it was any other hall of fame I'd agree but the wwe one is so fucking stupid I'd be annoyed if I was him and I wasn't in there before the likes of the Bella twins for example.

TetrisTech

Do you think the Bella twins shouldn’t be in the HoF?

bigdonabzy

Not really no but it's a made hall of fame so I don't think it really matters there's a list of way worse people that I think shouldn't be in it they were just the first to come to mind

TetrisTech

Thinking the Bellas shouldn’t be in the HoF is hilariously dumb

ToyStoryFive

Why? Because you do that? Not everybody needs to be fake humble to make it through the day, life’s too short to give a fuck about customs that hold us down

squirreldstar

Okay

juddplays

this is a 9 month old tweet and article...

Drummk

He's a talented guy but every interview he gives makes me think less of him.

1i_rd

Butthurt Jim Johnston is not what's up.

Hispandinavian

But is it as BIZARRE as the British Bulldog not winning the 96 Royal Rumble??

PFunk224

Bizarre is a word for it. I would say “Insulting” is more fitting.

LostMicrophone03

100%, If Snoop gets in, so should Jim Johnston.

Meepsnort

Jim seems to have a bit of an annoying attitude since parting ways with WWE. But I can't really disagree with the things he actually says. He *should* be in the hall of fame and someone *should* hire him because he is better than the other theme creators. Not to say Mikey Ruckus doesn't have some good ones. But as far as straight original themes from scratch, JJ is still by far the best at enhancing a character through theme music.

FisherPrice_Hair

> But as far as straight original themes from scratch, JJ is still by far the best at enhancing a character through theme music. He *was* , once upon a time. Who knows if he’d be better than Rukus now? AEW wants a fresh, ‘young’ sound, they don’t want all country rock or 90s metal. Plus Rukus gets input from the talent, whereas I get the feeling JJ would be insulted by a wrestler having any say in their own theme.

djbryanc

so i guess with that thought process a WWE seamstress should also be in the HOF

VanWylder

That's literally how the Warrior Award was intended to be used.

ChrisElCeroMiedo

Yeah that needs urgent fixing, even over 20 years later I still find myself humming themes he wrote and performed.

formallyhuman

I agree.

JimmeryJames

I guess he finally woke up
