What's the point of forklift garages if goods already move around between buildings with just a forklift connection ?

I’ve found that if you have say the 4 way connection in between your factories, the connection counts as a building and the factories can’t send resources to each other through the connection, probably completely wrong but maybe that’s it

lukeb50

That's exactly it. They are needed for complex/long connections as well as those with more than two buildings in them, such as industrial complexes. The low capacity of each forklift/garage & the loading time makes them unsuited for high throughput applications though.

I never use them, but am thinking about trying it for a meat farm I’m about to build. Are there any good applications?

beardum

The only thing I’ve used them for is chemicals.

Vik_unc

I use them between the steel, chemistry, elec. comps, mech. comps, fabric, clothing, vehicle/train factories and storages

PolygotProgrammer

I think this is a great use for them. Stick all your production facilities together (train, vehicle, air, docks, etc). They all share open storage and warehouse but you rarely have them all running all the time. Forklifts make sense here

elessar_warrior

Only good application here was at the eletronic components factory. And at my steel mill but only becouse i needed the connection NOT to push resources too fast to a train waiting for loading, so a mec. components factory could get some steel.

I used to use them when i was starting the game for linking a bunch of factories together, but realized theres always a more efficient way by using either intermediate storage, or even just passing materials through a factory- i.e you can build a connected cement plant>prefab>concrete, and the concrete plant pull cement from the prefab's storage
