Do you need to paint over primer?

Do you need to paint over primer?

I always have been taught to simply paint ceilings in flat and that’s good enough. In the new constructions they’re running two coats of flat paint on the lids and that’s a done deal. Primer is used as bonding agent between the raw gypsum and seals the surface from knowledge. It doesn’t contain the type of resin that a top coat of paint gives you from flat to ultra gloss depends how much resin is in this paint. Flat will scuff and mark easily but can be touched quickly because it all dries flat. Great for ceilings as u never really touch them unless your going through the attic access. Rental units will opt for eggshell or semi gloss for longevity and durability. Never seen a gloss ceiling personally. Hope I could help #unemployedpainter

> seals the surface from knowledge. Gotta keep the gypsum dumb unless we want it to rule the world

Jobs everywhere . Relocate if you need to man. They are starving for painters where I’m at

Depends on the primer. If it's a cheaper one with clay filler pigment in there. Then you're going to want to paint over it. If it's a good primer with tio2. Then you'll probably be fine.

You didn't have to prime it if you weren't going to paint it.

Primer is generally porous. It’ll take on dirt much easier IMO. Paint it

No you don't have to.
