TitPunch420

Buy something you like

AndreOfAstoria

Second this OP, it's your book you write it. But I'd suggest some Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star

mqwer

i love that album but i always heard the pressing wasnt great

oticakes23

Outkast-Atliens

ForrestHump411

Get Dr. Dre The Chronic

kbenjaminfotos

I would for sure get more of whatever you like to listen to.

karimdv

Yeah, quite a weird question to begin with

travisty3012

Have to get Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders to add to your A Tribe Called Quest collection

Richard_Crainium69

Midnight Marauders is a classic! I got it solely for Electric Relaxation and was shocked that the whole album turned into a banger.

kbenjaminfotos

You were shocked by how good a Tribe album was? Now I'm shocked.

Richard_Crainium69

Yeah I'm fairly new to life and only knew the one song. After buying the record I realized I scored! You have to think, these albums were made before I was and my parents weren't into them. So it was on me to figure out what they had to offer.

kbenjaminfotos

Gotcha...in that case, I suggest listening to all thier albums (Spotify). My favorite (unpopular opinion) is "Beats, Rhymes, and Life".

Richard_Crainium69

Will give them a go! Take it easy man

foxxgod

>I got it solely for Electric Relaxation and was shocked that the whole album turned into a banger. Nice. This is probably how I'm probably going to feel when I one day get the vinyl copy of Mecca and the Soul Brother solely for T.R.O.Y.

johndoemondo

Solid start!

Reading_Your_Mind

Really good start! Gotta have that Deltron 3030, J5, Digital underground, Blowout Comb. But having a record collection without female vocals is a sin. Koko Taylor, Nina Simone, Alicia Keys, Solange and her sister.

borky86

Billie Holiday would like a word with you.

Reading_Your_Mind

Exactly. Her voice jumps off the vinyl like pure energy. If you listen to a few hours of hip-hop and rap, some classic RnB gives a nice reset.

ripeatzbeatz

Lmaoo “Solange and her sister”

Youarenotaman69

Really read my mind there, I was thinking I needed some female performancers. Will check them out!

borky86

Alabama Shakes for something a but more modern as well!

an_teach_bain

Misseducation of Lauryn Hill is a good album too.

_GreenMan_

Jamila woods is amazing too

roedthomas

Bahamadia

CaineRexEverything

Pharcyde - Labcabincalifornia Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Black Star GZA - Liquid Swords clipping. - Visions Of Bodies Being Burned Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth I feel those kinda mix in well with what you got already

Youarenotaman69

Will definitely look into these - thanks!

Gangsterfield

While you're at it, check Talib Kweli's Liberation. Such a great record!

VinylHipHopJunkie

Nice start. Definitely get Blackstar, Black on both sides or 36 chambers

SweatyD39

Whatever you like dude! But my suggestion: Big Pun - Capital Punishment

securedascollateral

1983 by Flylo or Until The Quiet Comes

billwhyUSA

Or Los Angeles. I’ve been on the chase for 1983 for a hot minute

securedascollateral

i sold a mint copy of 1983 for $220 recently. still have my personal copy. one of my favorite debut projects from any producer

billwhyUSA

This is a hard flex. Pop off, king. And yes. Flying lotus is hands down my favorite musician/artist, free.

Spitzk0pf_Larry

Dude i just skipped through this album and literally every sample is offbeat, what da heck

borky86

Damn cant believe it's worth that much $ o $

securedascollateral

its really not i just got lucky tbh. there must have been a serious flylo fan out there willing to get a mint copy at any price edit: i didnt even intend on selling it originally. priced at 220 thinking nobody would buy it 😂

borky86

Lol for real. Looks like 80-120 is the going rate. Still happy I copped ages ago for $15 lol.

BladeeSecretAccount

super dope collection dude.

BipolarElbow

I bet luck of Lucien sounds great

Legal_Butterscotch27

RATM

kobeflip

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue You will like it. It will grow with you. It will get you laid.

scrape_ur_face

Good start! Would recommend 808s and Heartbreak to add to your Kanye collection

METALFISTERRORIST

Doggystyle by Snoop. illadelph Halflife by Roots. Anarchy by Busta Rhymes

MartinMcFlyingAway

Get anything that dre produced

uilparnox

Nice. More MF DOOM!

wooshmeifugayfag

I can recommend Run The Jewels, they make some fast and political rap music if you are into that

soulfunklover

Welcome 2 Detroit by J Dilla or ATLiens by OutKast

Sindregh

Whatever you like. Personally i have taboo by denzel and At.Long.last.asap coming in soon

guiltycitizen

Run The Jewels

chilangooo

Beautiful collection. May I suggest adding Reasonable Doubt and The Infamous. I have those two on vinyl and I always just let the whole album play.

MC_SKins

Definitely need a Kendrick album

jpgorgon

If you're a DOOM fan, pick up Madvillian while it's available. Madlib and DOOM

imMichaeI

Where’s it available?

jpgorgon

Check the Stones Throw site

jpgorgon

Oops, my bad. I just checked Stones Throw and it's sold out. Discogs is your best bet. Plenty of copies. https://www.discogs.com/Doom-And-Madlib-Madvillain-Madvillainy/release/17251129

siftw6

Dr. Dre - 2001 (arguably the greatest produced hip-hop album ever)

MonHeauxDaBigTipper

Cool!!

Spitzk0pf_Larry

Funky technician you need young padawan

80Baby203

Looks good, Nas illmatic is essential! I would go with some Wu-tang for the next pick up

[deleted]

Keep going through DOOM and his various aliases. FlyLo has a great discography as well, if you like him check out his frequent collaborator Thundercat

SinacMusic

When I first bought some vinyl I tried so hard to find Get Rich or Die Tryin and I was so happy when I found a brand new one. Idk if there more available now though

TheGiantMetalMan

More ATCQ, More DOOM!

YugerYuger

Awesome collection! Love your music taste.

Comeback_Shane

BlackStar

[deleted]

Broken bells eponymous debut its danger mouse and the dude from (the shins?). Wild

billwhyUSA

I see cosmogramma. I upvote. If you like flylo, you should check out his aunts work, Alice Coltrane.

borky86

Sweeeettttt cosmogramma! Love it. If you like hiphop I'd recommend checking out some Gangstarr.

SlouchyFlyer

You have a good ear for being 17 and a dope start to a collection

IAmCooket

I was so disappointed by the I Hate Being Bi-Polar record. No label at all on the record itself, just green

durag66

Personally the top left quadrant is the best in your collection and going by that you've a whole mountain of classic 90s and early 00s hiphop to pick up. I envy you heading stuff like early mobb deep, Wu Tang, Outlast etc for the first time. Enjoy!

HEAT91

Duh, all the other Death Grips albums

Important_Stretch_20

I heard Wu-Tang ain’t nothin to f*** with. Try 36 chambers or ODB return of the 36. Geto Boys- We can’t be stopped is classic.

maguigui

You should try getting Year Of The Snitch! Mines printed on a clear vinyl

Gangsterfield

Man, Fantano will be proud of you

SamTheMemeGod

Good. Next pick up should be madvillainy

Kek_Jesus

Honestly just walk into your nearest record store and find anything from any artist you enjoy, maybe even check the cheap bins and pick out some vinyls that you’ve never even heard of but have a cover you really like. Don’t worry too much about outside suggestions. A vinyl collection should be a reflection on your own music taste.

jazzoetry

I think you’d like some Metal Fingers (MF DOOM) - Special Herbs volumes. Madlib’s Sound Ancestor’s, maybe? Pharoah Sanders - Promises? Jazzmatazz Vol. 1? I think you could def weave in some more of that jazz-rap hybrid. Love the Death Grips btw!

4tunabrix

Why does everyone have to mention their age when they show their record collection?

MeatCloset69

Stop asking people what to get and just get what you like lmao

Paolo_mo_memes

Get a Tyler record

WillSwan7

Kanye fan good on you.

Either-Bluejay-2866

Some ogs on your joint.

jayoulean

Trade in your Kanye West and pick up Frank Ocean or more DOOM

2pacIsKobeBryant

Nah trade in all doom and get more Kanye, Drake and Weeknd.

CHIKI2104

Madvillain- Madvillainy. Doom & Madlib.

I_Am_Stoeptegel

What’s that middle one

Youarenotaman69

Flying lotus - Cosmogramma

Yellowbenzo

Mista thug isolation, but do you homie

Outrageous-Respect66

Get good kid maad city !!!

Creative_Bar_7444

Probably not on vinyl but check out syntax records, some soul rap, not just made to make money. God bless.

[deleted]

Great taste, Gil Scott-Heron “Pieces of a Man” vinyl. Thank me later.

flux_the_deal

Pusha T - Daytona

truthseeker22000

Keep living… 😁

24Rival

Illmatic for life

atticus_corbett

YeeZus

Nachteule33

First... go and buy the vinyls you really enjoy. If you´re not sure, then try something new out. A lot of times it happens, that a vinyl you dont know first, can lead you a new direction of music or it brings you new ideas. It is not neccesary important that you stick to one genre.

ToffeeDaKat

Ready to Die by Biggie?

G1Gkat

does late registration sound good on vinyl

Richard_Crainium69

The Mm Food is the one that caught my eyes🤟🏻 good shit for a 17yo

tanatalkbybenny

Mannnn amazing records so far!

Hazadam8

If new, good kid, m.A.A.d city or To Pimp A Butterfly, whichever you prefer, they’re both pretty good for vinyl If old, something by OutKast, maybe ATLiens, their debut is underrated too

mystuni

Dooooope collection! Enjoy! 🙌🤙

roedthomas

Dead prez-Let’s get Free, Run the Jewels 4

CrewBig673

Cormega- the realness

ChillyChillums

Amazing starter pack! What kind of setup are you running? If there's one thing I've learned, it's to only buy albums you actually enjoy, otherwise storing and moving becomes a bit more tedious. That being said, if you can find the Big K.R.I.T. box set of his first four mixtapes, it's fantastic. The first PRhyme album on vinyl is great as well. Blu and Exile's Below The Heavens is almost meant to be heard on wax. Edit: Pinata by Freddie Gibbs, absolutely necessary.
