Griezmann, yet another Atlético player that returns to the club for a second spell after leaving. He joins the list with Diego Simeone, Diego Costa, Fernando Torres, Filipe Luis, Tiago Mendes and Yannick Carrasco.

Time to call Jackson Martinez back!
That man is the definition of disappearing under the face of the Earth.
Allow it the man’s knees went missing, it would be pretty hard to not disappear when you’ve got no knees
not knees, an ankle. He doesn't even walk right, it was a sad career end
he’s out here making music now lmao
FIFA 15 legend
The PTSD I get whenever I read that name is incredible.
Ac Milan legend
They are always worse the 2nd time around. Hopefully Griezmann isn't crap round 2 for your sake.
always forget that filipe luis went to chelsea
4 of the players played for Chelsea
torres costa luis and? i know carrasco didnt, was it mendes?
Tiago Mendes.. He was an important part of the 04-05 team and helped us win our first league title in 50 years. Although not many remember that since Essien came in next season and took his place.
He scored a banger against united.
Tiago was a great player. One of the more underrated midfielders I would say. It’s a shame he played in an era with so many great midfielders
Mendes was a weird situation. He left Atlético on a free transfer in summer 2014 and seemed set to join Chelsea. It never happened and then he was going to Valencia instead, but Atlético gave him another offer last minute so he decided to return there. I can't say for sure if this is true but I remember reading from reliable Atlético sources that Chelsea basically fucked Tiago over. Reportedly they told him that if he could convince his mates Diego Costa and Filipe Luis to join Chelsea he would also get a contract, but then once they signed those 2, they just told Tiago to fuck off. And he is ex Chelsea player too
I would like to say sorry to Tiago on behalf of the Chelsea family.
The birthplace of the iconic Fabregas, costa, Luis meme
they had a couple tough champions league ties vs atletico, so they felt the urge to buy their players
Lucas come back boy
what a dream come true, that would be. he's probably the last wonderkid of our academy for some time.
What happened to your academy?
well the academy is still there. but Simeone hasn't really promoted anyone like that from the academy. before that we had a lot of academy graduates in the team but now it's just koke who's good.
That face on Griezmann damn, looks like he's seen some things
He's seen footage and he feels noided.
'Tis the face of a man who lost a Yu-Gi-Oh partnership
Probably saw some Japanese guy in corridor.
Aguero after two years of Barca
Alessio Cerci next
his fifa card when he was in torino was godly
Why did Carrasco leave anyways?
some shady deal to help with our absolute dire financial situation back then
💴💴💴
How did they miss the buff dude Jose Mari?
Diego Ribas also I believe
Imagine getting to keep the money when your customers return their purchase
Borussia Madrid
They sell high and buy low.
Atletico don't need him though.
We don't **need** him. But he is one hell of a cherry on top of an already great cake
what do you mean dont need him? He is probably the most ideal Simeone player there is.
Suarez, Correa, Cunha and Felix is a solid attack already and even if you need someone else, another real #9 would be of far better use than Griezmann.
Cunha is a 9, he played it for Brazil and Simeone talks about him like a pure 9. Griezmann may not be a natural 9, but he is a goalscorer. That is the key here, now we have another player apart from Suarez that is capable of scoring 20+ league goals
Regarding Griezmann, are you still stuck in 2018?
Seriously. The last time Griezmann hit 20+ goals in the league was in the 15/16 season, he hasnt broke more than 15 goals in the last three years.
He also hasn't played in a system that fits him and under a coach that knows how to use him in the last three years
He scored 15 league goals in his last season with Simeone.
And you think it is **that crazy** that he could get another 5-6 on top of that? Lol
It's been two years since he hit that where everyone who watches him consistently has seen him decline, even accounting for him not fitting Barca's tactics. In his best season in 2015, where he was considered the third best in the world behind Messi and CR7, he scored 22 goals. You really think he's going to be as good as he was back then? That is crazy.
Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic is a solid group of CMs already. Chelsea don’t need Saúl. Lol. Atleti made a go to sign Vlahovic but Fiorentina didn’t want to sell so there weren’t many exciting options available for a long-term Suarez replacement. We needed more goal scorers, Griezmann pushed for this move and agreed to reduce his wages to the Koke Oblak tier to make it work. Atleti only moved for Cunha towards the end of the window having failed to sign anyone else. They were waiting out Barca on Griezmann for leverage and the deal was not certain to be finalized when we brought Cunha on.
What was the maximum fee you offered for Vlahovic? Just curious.
Rumored to be in the €80m range which was what Fiorentina asked for at first. They then changed their mind or misjudged the situation and asked for €110m.
So you were ready to pay 80 million for Vlahovic but went all the way down to 30 million for Cunha when there were better strikers in the market for 50-60 million or so?
Such as?
Hmm Felipe Luiz?
Luis Filipe, the LB who went to Chelsea and back.
Went to Chelsea because we wanted a replacement for Ashley Cole but Mourinho decided to convert the backup RB into his starting LB..... Some Spanish guy with a hard to pronounce last name
Quetzalcóatl
We just call him Dave
>Spanish lmao
They speak that in Brazil poh-tay-to, poh-tah-to same thing
Most of them weren't very good during their second spell.
carrasco, even better maybe
except Costa, who?
They have no clue. They’re probably slagging Torres off since he wasn’t world class anymore.
Clueless no idea what the hell you’re talking about do you?
And almost all were flops.
makes me think if other coaches have a hard time getting the best out of these players and Simeone makes good players seem word class or if they just have Simeones system drilled into them and are not able to adapt to anything else
Worth it just for Diego costa’s beautiful art of bullying defenders. So much fun to watch.
Feels like he had never leave
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
